Destination Delhi - Dharamsala -Delhi - Jaipur - Agra - New Delhi

 

 Day 01 Arrive Delhi

Arrive at Delhi. Meeting and assistance at the airport by our representative who will assist you to the hotel.

Delhi is a busy metropolis, which successfully combines in its folds the ancient with modern. Its planned location was the prime reason why successive dynasties chose it as their seat of power. In fact, more mythological cities are believed to be here, like the city of Indraprastha from the Hindu epic Mahabharata, founded around 5000 BC. Numerous monuments were built over several centuries by different rulers like Qutub-ud-din Aibek, Alauddin Khilji, Tughlaks, Humayun & Shah Jahan, who built the Walled City of Shah Jahanabad. Later in first half of 20th century, most of New Delhi was planned by Sir Edwin Lutyens, who laid out an ostentatious central administrative area as a testament to British rule in India. The division in walled city & New Delhi also marks the division in life styles.Overnight stay in Delhi.

 

Day 02 Delhi

After breakfast, tour Old Delhi, the 17th century walled city of Shah Jahanabad. Visit Jama Masjid, the principal mosque of Old Delhi. Built in the year 1656 AD by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, it is the largest & best known mosque in India. Later walk through Chandi Chowk, the old marketplace of Shah Jahanabad which is now a picturesque bazaar to reach Red Fort, built in the year 1648 by Shah Jehan. visit Raj Ghat, memorial to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. It is a simple black marble platform that marks the spot of his cremation on 31 January 1948. overnight delhi.

Day 03  Delhi - Dharamsala ( 10 hrs appx.)

Early  morning, drive to Dharamsala. Situated in the state of Himachal Pradesh, Dharamsala is a beautiful hill station and is also the place where spiritual leader of Tibetans, Dalai Lama has established the government in exile. Upon arrival, check-in at hotel.. Overnight at Dharamsala.

 

Day 04 Dharamsala

After breakfast, go for sightseeing of Dharamsala including verdant surroundings. Day will begin with a tour of the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA) and attend the cultural programs that are performed there. The Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA) is the premiere exile institute entrusted with the responsibility of preserving and promoting Tibet’s unique tradition of performing arts. The Communist Chinese occupation of Tibet in 1959 forced His Holiness the Dalai Lama and some 80,000 Tibetans to flee india. After the occupation, the Chinese authorities attacked every aspect of Tibetan culture and civilization. On His arrival in India, His Holiness the Dalai Lama felt the need to take immediate steps to preserve the traditional performing arts before it was lost forever. Thus, TIPA was established in August 1959, four months after His arrival in India. Thereafter, visit Norbulingka. The dreams that gave rise to the Norbulingka Institute began to emerge in 1980s, when the Tibetan refugee community had been in exile. With the means of physical survival secured, many monasteries re-established and a satisfactory education system set up, thoughts turned to better preserving Tibetan identity and cultural roots. At the same time, a revelation took place as conditions in Tibet were relaxed and communications between the community in exile and their compatriots in Tibet opened up once more. Day 05 Dharamsala

After breakfast, go for sightseeing tour of the city which will include a visit to Namgyal Monastery. In 1959, the Red Chinese invaded Tibet and after being unsuccessful, popular uprising against Chinese rule, His Holiness the Fourteenth Dalai Lama and approximately one hundred thousand Tibetans, including fifty five Namgyal monks, fled into the neighbouring countries of Nepal, Bhutan and India. His Holiness then re-established Namgyal Monastery in India, and a small group of new, young monks from various Tibetan refugee schools joined those Namgyal monks from Tibet who had survived the desperate early years as refugees. Thus the monastery ancient rituals, artistic skills and tradition-making butter sculptures, constructing colored sand mandalas, performing sacred monastic dance, ritual music and chanting were gradually preserved and revived. Later excursion to Baijnath for visiting Sherabling monastery. It provides a complete range of facilities for monks to study and practice. The monastery has shrine halls, a monastic college, school, library, museum, exhibition hall and dispensary. Later in afternoon, go for a sightseeing tour of the McLeodganj where Tibetan exiles have established various monasteries, schools and temples. Later in the evening, guests will be transferred back to the hotel for the night’s stay.

 

Day 06 Dharmsala - new Delhi

After breakfast you, drive back to toDelhi. Overnight delhi.

 

Day 07  Delhi

 Post breakfast, we drive past India Gate, the memorial built in the year 1931 to commemorate the Indian soldiers who died in the World War I & the Afghan Wars. The names of the soldiers who died in these wars are inscribed on the walls. Bypass President’s House, the official residence of the President of India, built in the year 1931. Until 1950 it was known as Viceroy's House & served as the residence of the Governor-General of British India. Visit Humayun's Tomb, memorial of Mughal Emperor Humayun, built in the year 1562. The complex is a World Heritage Site & the first example of its type of Mughal architecture in India. Also visit Qutub Minar built in the year 1206 by Qutub-ud-din Aibek. It is the tallest (72m) brick minaret in the world and an important example of Indo-Islamic Architecture. Qutub Minar & its monuments are listed in UNESCO World Heritage Site. overnight Delhi.

 

Day 08 Delhi/ Agra (205 km / 4-5 Hours)

Morning after breakfast we drive to Agra, which is beautifully situated on the banks of river Yamuna. It has achieved prominence as the capital of the Mughals Emperors from the year 1526 to 1628 and remains a major tourist destination because of its many splendid Mughal-era monuments, most notably the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort & Fatehpur Sikri, all three are UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Overnight stay in Agra.

 

Day 09 Agra- Jaipur via Fatehpur Sikri (235 km – 5 hr)

In the morning, witness one of most beautiful among the Seven Wonders of the World: Taj Mahal with its speculative view at the time of sunrise. Taj Mahal, the architectural modern day wonder of the world; this monument is a fine example of the fusion of many architectural styles is one of the wonders of the modern world. Taj, endowed it with some of the loveliest buildings in the world. Return to hotel for breakfast and visit Agra Fort, designed and built by Akbar in 1565 A.D., built with barricaded wall of red sand stone; it houses the beautiful and numerous palaces including the Jahangir Mahal, Diwan-i-Khas, Diwan-i-Am, Macchhi Bhawan, Nagina Masjid, Moti Masjid, Sheesh Mahal, Musamman Burj where from Taj Mahal is visible in all its beauty from one side of the fort. Emperor Shahjahan, prisoner of his son Aurangzeb in his old age was put in a cell from where he could gaze at the Taj Mahal at a distance, from his cell in the fort. Also visit the Tomb of Itmad-ud-Daullah built by Empress Noorjehan in memory of her father. Later drive to Jaipur en-route visit Fatehpur Sikri (Ghost Capital), the political capital of India's Mughal Empire under Akbar's reign, from the year 1571 until 1585, when it was abandoned, ostensibly due to lack of water. Visit Emperor Akbar's Residential complex, Mosque & Tomb of Salim Chisti. Upon arrival in Jaipur, check-in at hotel.

Day 10 Jaipur

Morning after breakfast excursion to Amber Fort; the palace complex which stands to this date was commenced under the reign of Raja Man Singh. Take an Elephant ride to reach the Fort situated on the hill, an overwhelming experience. Later visit the City Palace, a perfect blend of Rajasthani & Mughal architecture. The center of the palace is a seven-storied building called Chandra Palace, with fine views of the gardens & the city. Further we visit Jantar Mantar (Solar Observatory), an astronomical treasure house, with solar devices that give accurate predictions till date. We also visit Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds), a five-storied structure of pink sandstone. It was built in the year 1799 so that veiled royal women could peer down the busy street market unseen by the world through its 593 stone Jharokas. Overnight stay in Jaipur.

 

Day 11 Jaipur-Delhi (265 km – 5 hours)

Morning after breakfast drive to Delhi. Upon arrival in Delhi, directly transfer to International airport for boarding onward flight.
