One can reach Chandigarh by air, rail or by road. Indian Airlines and Jet Airways have direct flights from New Delhi and Mumbai to Chandigarh. Air Deccan operates flights from Delhi everyday. The fares by Air Deccan are less as compared to the other two. Recently, MDLR Airlines service from Delhi has started and these shall expand the air network to Ranchi and Kolkata through Delhi.
There is frequent train service from New Delhi. The economical Jan Shatabdi Express runs everyday except Sunday. From Mumbai, there is the Paschim Express; from Howrah there is the Kalka Mail; from Chennai there is the Dehradun-Chandigarh Madras Express; from Kerala there is the Kerala Sampark Kranti and from Lucknow there is the Chandigarh Lucknow Express that can be boarded to reach Chandigarh.
Chandigarh is well connected with other cities and states by road. Chandigarh has two bus terminals. The Inter State Bus Terminus in Sector 17 is connected to all major spots in the neighboring states of Delhi, Jammu, Uttaranchal, Haryana, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. The Volvo A/C bus service offers connectivity to Delhi, the airport and other towns like Gurgaon. The fares of this bus are comparable with the rates of Jan Shatabdi Express. The Inter State Bus terminus at Sector 43 connects to all major towns in Punjab.
