The city of Chandigarh boasts of its stunning landscape and architecture which is undoubtedly a treat to the eyes. The brilliance of the modern architecture has created quite a few tourist destinations in the state. Among the important tourist destination in Chandigarh are Capitol Complex, The Open Hand, The Rock Garden, Rose Garden, Sukhna Lake and Temple of Goddess Chandi. The Capitol Complex comprises of three main buildings of the Secretariat, the High Court and the Assembly which are interconnected to one another. The Open Hand is one of the most important spots in Chandigarh which is a giant hand made structure constructed of metal sheets that rotates like a weather cock. The Rock Garden is unique in the fact that it consists of different art objects and stone structures. This rock garden was initially sculpted out of urban debris. Colorful remains of waste ceramics, chinaware, coal and other disposables were used to create the textures and patterns.
Sukhna Lake is an artificial lake created by man in the year 1958. This site is one of the most favorite places for halting as one can catch glimpses of several migratory birds flying from Central Asia to India and vice-versa. Rose Garden is one of the Asia’s largest gardens which is spread over 30 acres of area. It has almost 1600 varieties of roses. The temple of Goddess Chandi adorns the north border of the city and is considered as one of the 12 Shakti Peethas for all the Hindus. The snow white dome temple is dedicated to the Goddess Chandi who is the goddess of power.
