There are numerous sightseeing options in Goa including the various beaches, churches and temples spread out all over the place. The beaches in Goa are ideal for relaxing and enjoying an ayurvedic massage or indulging in the water sports including water gliding and water scooters. There are 40 beautiful beaches spread all over and are free from pollution. Some of the important beaches are the Calangute, Baga and Anjuba belt in the north of Panaji. These are relatively quieter and untouched as compared to beaches in the South.
The historic churches have a Portuguese influence, and are a terrific sight to watch .Some of the popular churches to visit include Church of St. Francis of Assisi, St. Cathedral and Basilica of Bom Jesus, Our Lady of Rosary, The Rachol Seminary and more. The Church of Mae de Dens has Gothic architecture and was known for its miraculous powers. These Catholic structures have stood strong over the years and have several stories to tell.
The Hindu pilgrimage spots include the Sidhanath Mountain in Borim Village, the Brahma Camandolu or Water Pot of Brahma, Noroa River and the Arvalem Waterfall. There are numerous temples such as the Brahma Temple, Shri Datta Mandir, Shri Damodar temple, Shri Chandreshwar temple and Shri Gomanteshwar temple to be seen in Goa.
The Portuguese ruled Goa for centuries and hence Goa has a unique lifestyle that consists of a blend of Indian and Western cultures. The major places to see while visiting Goa include Panaji, the capital of Goa, Margao, the capital of South Goa; Pilar which provides fine views of the Harbour and Zuari River, Ponda which has a number of temples and a mosque, Mapusa, the Mormugao Harbor and Vasco Da Gama.
