The places of interest in Himachal Pradesh are well connected through airways. The important airline companies operating in Himachal Pradesh are Indian airlines, Trans Bharat Aviation Jagson Airlines, Air Deccan. There are three major airports in Himachal Pradesh. These are Shimla Airport, Bhuntar Airport and Gaggal Airport. Out of these, the Shimla Airport is situated near Shimla, Bhuntar airport is located near Kullu while Gaggal Airport is situated near Kangra district.

Big cities such as Delhi are connected with Bhuntar through air. It also serves as the central place from which famous destinations like Manali and Manikaran are accessible. The flights function almost during all seasons. Anyhow, the scheduled flights might get delayed in winters to the extreme fog. The weather gets extreme, especially in winters. These airports possess shorter runways, which are less than 4000 ft; as a result, only small aircrafts can land on these airports. Aircrafts such as Dornier which is 18- seater and ATR which is a 42- seater aircraft are only allowed on the airport.
