Home - Fact Sheet - Himachal Travel Details - When to go
When to go

Himachal Pradesh is the mountainous state which is bordered by the Himalayan ranges, Kashmir and Ladakh. Due to its high altitude and geographical position, the weather in Himachal Pradesh is extreme and unpredictable. Here are some tips on when to visit the Himachali places.

The capital city, Shimla is the most convenient place to visit. Tourists can visit the place at any time of the year. During monsoon season also, the weather is quite pleasant. To enjoy the winter season, one must visit Shimla during October and November. In the last week of December around Christmas Shimla experiences snow fall and this period stands to be the perfect time to enjoy snow sports.

Manali is the famous hill station all over India. Hence, when the rest of the India gets struck by the scorching heat, Manali enjoys a comfortable climate. Despite of the crowds gathering at the place, the accommodation is not the problem in Manali. This is due to large number of hotels, rest houses and lodges available in Manali.

The Manali-Leh road becomes extremely dangerous during monsoon season. At least till the first week of June, traveling by this road should be avoided.
