Jammu & Kashmir is one of the top tourist destinations of India . However while visiting this state, he or she has to consider the climatic conditions of this region. Generally, there are four seasons like spring, autumn, summer and winter. Spring season starts from March till May, summer season begins from May till August, autumn from September to November and winter starts from December till March. If any tourists are visiting this region during summer, then it is better to wear cotton clothes while in winter it is essential to wear woolen clothes. During winters the climate is very cold and chilly, so it is better for the tourists to wear heavy woolen clothes in order to protect themselves from severe cold.

If any one is traveling to any high altitude region like Ladakh, then oxygen level is lower in such places and acclimatization is required on arrival. Tourists should halt for at least 24 hours to get adjusted to the high altitude atmosphere before indulging in any physical activity. At places like Leh, there are specialists at the hospitals with well equipped medical facilities in order to meet eventualities caused by the high altitude. Presence at high altitudes of about 2700 meters can cause coughing, nausea, headache and breathlessness. In these cases, it is advisable to contact the medical dispensary which is located in most of the villages in that area.

It is further advised to all the tourists visiting this region that they should abstain from eating food or drinking water at the roadside eateries. Bottled mineral water is available easily for cheap price. Every tourist should ensure that proper cleanliness and hygiene has been observed in the roadside stalls. Jammu & Kashmir doesn’t require a person to have particular vaccinations, unless he or she has stayed for more than six days in a fever affected area. It is also advisable for the tourists to carry with them some of the important medicines in case of any emergency.
