The temperature and weather of Kathmandu varies widely accordingly to the seasons, with mostly pleasant summers and harsh & cold winters. The area’s high altitude around 1300 meters means that it never gets a warm climate as compared to other locations with the similar altitude.
Summers in Kathmandu are quite humid and one can also come across few showers during this season. During the months of May till September, the region bears heavy rainfall. The region’s rainy summer creates lush green countryside and most of the tourists refer to it as the Switzerland of Asia.
Tourists generally visit this region during summer, when they can enjoy the city’s attraction and historical sites in the best way. However, there are few tourists who are attracted to this region’s adventurous bent and so they visit this region during winter because there are quite a few adventurous sports being carried out. Snowboarding, skiing, mountaineering and hiking are some of the adventurous sports being carried out in this region.
