History and Background
Better known as the heart of the country, Madhya Pradesh is amongst one of the biggest states of India. The state shares its boundaries with Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharastra and Gujarat. The state has a very rich historical background.
Almost the entire state was under the Mughal rule which was ruled by Emperor Akbar. Some of the parts that remained under the rule of the Gond Kings were Mahakoshal and Gondwana. After the death of Akbar, the state was taken over by the Marathas. After the Marathas, the British took over the rule of the state. The state officially came into existence after independence in 1950.
