Maharashtra, situated in the western India , is one of the largest states in India with Mumbai being its capital as well as one of the largest cities of the country . Maharashtra is well connected by air to other parts of the world. Mumbai in Maharashtra is international gateway for all the tourists visiting Maharashtra. It has the busiest domestic air networks in the country and has two major airports. The Chhatrapati Shivaji International is 30 kilometers North of the city and the domestic airport is located just 4 kilometers from Santa Cruz in Mumbai. The offices of most of the international and domestic airlines are found at Nariman Point in Mumbai.

The state of Maharashtra is an important industrialized destination and includes various places of tourist attractions as well. Places such as Aurangabad, Mahableshwar, Pune, Lonavala, Khandala, Ajanta and Ellora, Ganapatipule and Ratnagiri are important tourism destinations and are located in Maharashtra. The communication network is excellent all over Maharashtra which has facilitated the growth of tourism in the state.
