Maharashtra is a land of glorious history and rich cultural heritage. The great forts which stand a testimony to the illustrious Maratha Empire include the Tornagad, Raigad, Rajgad, Pratapgad, Vishalgad, Panhalgad and Sindhudurg. Kolhapur is a famed Maratha State with many palaces, museums, temples and forts. Other tourist interest places to be seen in Maharshtra include Ganpatipule, Bhandardara, Nasik and Nanded.
