Home - Fact Sheet - Maharashtra Travel Details - When to go
When to go

Maharashtra can be best visited at all times round the year as it enjoys a good climate and weather all throughout except peak monsoons. Winter is the best time to go to Maharashtra as the weather is very pleasant and the cold is quite bearable. The winter season is from November till February. The summers might get severe in some districts of northern Maharashtra, so it would be advisable to avoid traveling in Maharashtra during peak summers.

The rainy seasons are also pleasant at places like Aurangabad, Pune and other such cities. The summer months of April, May and June may get very hot in some districts like Nagpur, Nanded etc. Tourists who wish to visit Maharashtra during summers must wear shades, loose cotton clothes and apply sunscreen lotions. They need to keep themselves hydrated at all times to avoid sunstrokes. Coastal areas like Ratnagiri, Mumbai, Raigad, Alibag, Vengurla may face heavy rains during the monsoons. The best time to visit these places of Maharashtra is during winters and early summers from October till April.
