Getting Around by Train in Rajasthan

Trains are probably the most fascinating mode to explore the state. All the big cities in Rajasthan are well connected by rails. The state government runs 4 luxury trains specifically targeted for international tourists

The Palace on Wheels is a famed luxury train ride that offers opulence like no other train. The train’s interiors are reminiscent of the royal past, with soft music playing in the background. The train has televisions, library and a dining hall that can satiate the most discerning of gourmet. The itinerary is so designed that travelers can enjoy the journey at a cool unhurried pace. The train covers the major tourist spots, not necessarily big cities during a span of 7 nights and 8 days.

The phenomenal success of Palace on Wheels inspired the government to come up with another heritage train, the Fairy Queen. This is the world’s oldest steam running locomotive. The train has only two coaches out of which one is a pantry car. The train has a huge windowed lounge which lets passengers enjoy the view.
